Frolic 2019 Bonnie Hunter Quiltville Mystery Quilt

Frolic 2019 Mystery Quilt fabric selection
Frolic 2019 Mystery Quilt fabric selection
This is my favourite time of year - Bonnie Hunter has just released the fabric details for her 2019 Mystery Quilt, which this year is called 'Frolic'.  As she mentions in her post, her Mystery Quilts are a chance to build your quilting and piecing skills.  The quilts are scrappy and the aim is to use up fabric you already have in your stash.  The Mystery Quilt is free to follow and runs between Thanksgiving and the New Year.

I have pulled these colours from my stash.  I  am fine for the raspberry and and greens, but very low on blue.

Last year a couple of my longarm quilting customers did the 2018 Good Fortune Mystery Quilt with great results.

Will you be joining in the Frolic 2019 Mystery Quilt?

Jilly has made this marvellous quilt using a 'Vintage Elegance' quilt kit from Fabscraps, purchased on Create and Craft. The finished result is a lovely quilt which can be used for lots of things and this particular design would blend in anywhere.  I am a big fan of kits. There are times in your life when you don't want the extra effort of designing, you just want to make something, or you just want to master a new technique - that is when kits come into their own.  They are usually the kickstart for the next exciting quilt project.

To finish off the quilt, Jilly chose a the ever-popular 'Ginger Hearts' quilt pattern from the  Fabadashery Longarm Quilting design library. Knowing that this large quilt had been quilted, Jilly is now ready for the next stage of her quilting journey.

'Country Sampler' quilt made by Barbara

'Country Sampler' Quilt
'Country Sampler' Quilt
This is Barbara's 'Country Sampler' quilt which she made as part of a workshop with Jennifer at Sew Forest of Dean.  She made a lovely job of it and had really appreciated the guidance that Jennifer gave her throughout the project.  I never tire of sampler quilts as they are a great way to find out what techniques we enjoy the most.  Some times we are so keen to move onto the next project that taking advantage of your local longarm quilting service is a great way to make sure projects get finished.
This quilt is heading with love to a family member, so it had to be hearts!

All my wonderful customers are keeping me busy on my longarm quilting machine at the moment. Eirwen usually leaves it to me to decide what quilting to put on her quilts.  On this occasion I used my new Sea Green Glide thread with  a'Bubbles' quilting design.  The Sea Green blended nicely with the colours she used for her log cabins and then added interest to the lighter areas.
