Here is a beautiful hand pieced, English Paper pieced quilt which I had the pleasure of quilting for Mercedes earlier this year. I love the colours and was pleased to be wearing co-coordinating  clothes when she dropped it off!  The quilt was massive and used modern fabrics from designers such as Tula Pink.

Mercedes also managed to source an extra wide Tula Pink backing fabric called 'Free Fall' featuring little birds, which also showed the digital quilting pattern 'Nemesh Feathers' beautifully.

Charity Quilt made by Marlene featuring New Dehli quilt pattern.

Charity quilt made by Marlene
During this special time many people have been reaching for their scrap bags to make quilts.  Marlene has made this scrap quilt, by hand, from the leftovers of her last scrap quilt!  This particular quilt will be heading off to a quilt charity.

There are several digital quilt patterns in my collection which are lovely, but I have never stitched out, so a charity quilt is an opportunity to see what they look like.  On this occasion I tried out 'New Dehli' designed by Patricia Ritter, which has a flavour of traditional Indian patterns and paisley patterns.

Another scrap quilt, this time a Memory quilt made out of a special collection of shirts as a wedding gift for a young couple.   I really like doing these quilts as they are made of washed and worn fabrics, which usually makes them beautifully soft and cosy.  However, I do know that there is a lot of preparation beforehand to strip the shirt down to its useful bits.  The pattern Pat and Gill chose was perfect and to keep the simplicity, we chose the Modern Curves quilting pattern.
PS: The back was pieced as well!

You may recognise this quilt as I have featured this pattern on this site before.  This is Margaret's SECOND Devon County quilt, you can see her first one here.  This time it was in grey and white, using up quite a lot of scraps along the way. This quilt pattern was a souvenir supplement with Issue 29 of Today's Quilter in late 2017, designed by Sally Ablett.

Labelling your quilts: Remembering a moment in your history

Fabadashery Quilt Label Service
Fabadashery Quilt Label Service
There is a reason I am a longarm quilter. It is because I like finishing things. Whilst in lockdown I am squeezing in a few quilty jobs of my own, which has meant I have managed to finish a project I have been working on for a long time.  My favourite parts of making a quilt are the finishing jobs: the binding, a hanging sleeve and a label.
I ALWAYS label my quilts and at this particular time in history, it seemed to take on a greater significance than usual.  If you are making more quilts than usual at the moment, don't forget to label them.

This is a lovely half square triangle quilt made by Sharon. It is made from beautiful blue and gold fabrics from a Moda Minick and Simpson collection called Grand Traverse Bay, with traditional paisleys motifs . Half square triangles are so satisfying to make.

This is a photo of the back which shows the quilting pattern - 'Squirts' by Anne Bright.  Despite its quirky name, it is quite an elegant pattern, with an Italian cord quilting look to it.  It is one one of my favourites.

Covid-19

Quilting continues here at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  Several of you managed to get your quilt to me before the shut down and others are sending me their quilt tops by post (in fact the postman has just dropped off another!).

If you are concerned you don't have all the bits and pieces necessary, rest assured that I have plenty of wadding available to buy - Hobbs Wool, Hobbs 80/20, Hobbs Polydown and Quilters Dream Cotton.

I also have a limited selection of backing fabrics available, mainly white on white, white on ecru and cream on cream, white or calico.

And I have plenty of thread ...

If you have any queries or questions, drop me an email with a photo of your quilt and we can go from there.

Please keep to the Government guidelines, keep washing your hands and keep safe.

Traditional Welsh Quilt with a modern touch, made by Jan
The quilting continues here at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  Today I thought I would delight you with this beautiful Welsh quilt made by a lovely Welsh lady, Jan.  This was a big double bed quilt and the combination of a traditional pattern and the Modern Curves digital quilt pattern takes it to another level.
