Pauline's Hoffman Dragonfly Quilt - Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

I am always amazed at the variety of quilts that come through the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting door.  This Hoffman Dragonfly quilt, made by Pauline was 92" long, and was made from some fabric panels she had purchased whilst in America.  So what pattern should we use?

The choice was quite obvious - more dragonflies in the form of 'Dragon Wings'. A great choice is you want a light, nature inspired allover pattern.

Margaret's Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements Fabric Quilt Showcase

Something a bit different today.  A bit of grunge. Margaret brought me this quilt to quilt made out of Tim Holtz Eclectic fabrics, which she purchased from the Cotton Patch.  With such interesting fabrics she didn't want to cut them up small, in case they lost their impact, so kept the blocks big.  I will admit that we spent a good amount of time admiring the amazing designs (hooray for face-to-face consultations!) and the grungy patterns inspired me to get my Gelli plate out to do some printing.

Again, with such a fascinating collection of prints, the quilting needed to be subtle, so it did not detract and on this occasion we used Squirts by Anne Bright

Pat's Kaffe Fasssett Water Garden Quilt, quilted by Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

What a difference a year makes! This time last year as the pandemic hit, I was wondering what the future was for Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  However, we all changed our habits and I am pleased to say that lot of my customers decided to send their quilts to me for longarm quilting.  Pat sent her lovely 'Water Garden' quilt to me for the full service, preparing the backing, quilting it, trimming and adding the binding. When she opened her returned parcel, she just had the pleasure of finishing it off by hand sewing the binding, and adding the spare fabric back into her stash.

This quilt is called 'Water Garden' and it features in Kaffe Fassett's book 'Quilts in Morocco'.  The quilting pattern Pat chose was 'Bird's Eye View' designed by Barbara Becker.  I think this pattern is perhaps one of the most useful ones in my library as the spacing between the lines is even, so it makes for a more restful design.

I like this one so much, that I took a picture of the back of the quilt, which was a lovely batik fabric.
