I have a double offering for you today on the 8th Day of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas.  Last year, Coral's friend got in touch to see if I could help Coral, who will be 90 this year, finish off some English paper pieced hexagon quilts which she had been working on for many years. One quilt had been started by someone else and Coral had added to it, the other was a regular Grandmother's Flower Garden style, where Coral had used a wide variety of fabrics, but had pulled it together by using just solid fabric for the centres.

When I see all the variety of fabrics in these heirloom quilts, I am always keen to start one myself.

To make sure these two quilts were not left lingering unfinished in a cupboard, Coral opted for the binding and trimming service which I offer and also ordered a label for each of them.

Today is Day 7 of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas.  Here is a lovely fresh quilt made by Karen, called Blossom and Bees. With all the bees flying around, it was important that there were plenty of flowers for them, so we chose' 'Cherry Blossom' a digital quilting pattern by Irene Steele.  Karen also took advantage of my binding and trimming service.

Day 6 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Di's Tula Pink Hexagon Quilt

It's Day 6 of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas.  Di often posts her quilts to me and when I opened her parcel and found this little quilt, I knew it needed something different.  There are digital quilting patterns for every occasion and I went on a search for hexagon shaped block patterns to suit these Tula Pink themed hexagons. To get this precise effect, I placed each pattern individually in each hexagon shape, a custom finish.

As with all hexagon quilts, you need to decide how to finish the irregular edge.  On this occasion, because the hexagons were quite large, there was the option to add an irregular edge binding.  And don't forget the back. The custom digital pattern gave a great pattern on the Tula Pink extra wide fabric backing.

Day 5 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Jane's Crosses Quilt

On the 5th Day of Christmas, Fabadashery Longarm Quilting brings you Jane's 'Crosses' quilt. This is the second 'Crosses' quilt which Jane has made and was a gift for a young family member.  It is a great modern style quilt and the quilting pattern, Cosmos designed by Keryn Emmerson, just adds to the modern feel.

Welcome to Day 4 of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas. I know you all love a new baby / children's quilt, so I had to show you Jill's Monster Alien Quilt.  Jill has done lots of applique, using scraps and bright fabrics, to make a fun kids quilt.  As usual Popcorn by Willow Leaf Designs, is a great quilting pattern for lots of quilts, suitable for girls and boys and little monsters!

For Day 3 of the Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas, we have this lovely book themed quilt made by Alyson.  The quilt pattern is 'Book Nook', by Pen Paper patterns and the digital quilting pattern is 'Over the Rainbow' by Christy Dillon of My Creative Stitches.  Lots of Moda Grunge fabric and novelty word fabrics included in this quilt.

Welcome to Day 2 of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas.  Today I am sharing Liz's Spool Quilt.  These spools are a variation on the traditional spool block, which has been around for years and are a great scrap busting pattern.  Liz has used her favourite warm brown toned fabrics.  Having spotted it on my website, Liz knew exactly which quilting pattern she wanted - Spools of Threads, designed by Anne Bright.

Happy Christmas - Day 1 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas

Happy Christmas!  It has been a busy year for me at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  I have been busy helping you all to finish your quilts and have been out and about at lots of quilt groups, giving talks and showing you my own quilts. Thank you.

The quilt block featured today has been made by one of the community members of St Francis of Assisi Church in Bridgwater.  Throughout the year they have been learning patchwork and creating blocks taken from 'The Bible Sampler Quilt' by Laurie A Hird. I quilted this one with 'Popcorn', the most hard-working digital pattern I own.

Over the next 12 days of Christmas I will be sharing some of the delightful quilts I have quilted for my customers throughout the year.

Today I am featuring Sara's lovely 'Fall Leaves' quilt, a pattern by Cluck, Cluck Sew. A great pattern to show off some of your beautiful fat quarters on a neutral background.

To make sure the different fabrics on the leaves were shown off to their best, Sara chose a neutral thread and a simple scroll pattern called 'Bird's Eye View' designed by Barbara Becker. I think this pattern has just been added to my Quilt Bucket List!

The Gift Giver

Thank you to all my customers who have kept me extremely busy over the past few months. Lella brought her quilt top to Fabadashery Longarm Quilting after it had been stored in a cupboard for a number of years, waiting to be quilted.  She chose the fabrics with Ann Stuart of Busy Bees, Newport, when Ann was based at Taurus Crafts, near Lydney, and really enjoyed the workshops to put it together.  It was a large quilt, finished off with a lovely piano key border.  The longarm machine can make light work of the quilting of a quilt, and within a few days of delivering the quilt, Lella was back to pick it up.  With the binding attached as part of the services offered by Fabadashery Longarm Quilting, Lella is now able to do the final stitches of her project and have it on her bed in time for winter 2023.

The blocks are from Lynne Edwards 'The Essential Sampler Quilt' and the pattern we chose was 'Birds Eye View', stitched in Light Tan Glide thread.

Do you know of one of these types of quilts lurking in a cupboard somewhere? An English Paper Pieced quilt top, featuring fabrics from yesteryear, shoved in the back of a cupboard waiting for the day when it will be quilted?  Well, for Rosemary, the day came this summer  (in fact, I have done quite a few this summer...). This quilt had been with her for 25 years and she had picked it up in a Charity Shop, so it had a bit of history.  There were lots of Laura Ashley gems in this one and the few paper pieces still left in included cardboard from a vintage Kellog's Frosties packet. It was huge, 114" x 84", which required the extra wide wadding I supply and to bring it closer to the finish, Rosemary took advantage of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting binding service.

For the pattern Rosemary chose a Floral block pattern, from my Art and Stitch catalogue.  This is a block pattern, so we were able to flip and mirror the blocks to create our own pattern.

Jill brought this quilt to Fabadashery Longarm Quilting and from the moment I saw it I was in love with it.  Jill has an eye for colour and using a William Morris print as a starting point, she created this Log Cabin quilt using a mix of other prints. There is a reason  William Morris is still so popular and that is because the prints are easy to live with. The quilting pattern was called 'Malachite' designed by Patricia E Ritter, and it made a perfect combination.  To save one extra job, Jill also took advantage of the binding service we offer.

Today I am sharing Carol's Forest Quilt which she brought to Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  It features Lewis and Irene ' Bear Hug' fabric and to keep with the theme we chose a Bear Paw quilting pattern designed by Jessica Schick.

Here is a great quilt which I longarm quilted for #jude_stitches.  A simple design which she devised herself to use up a Jelly Roll.  It was for her son and Jude chose this magnificent pattern called 'Dynamite' by Sarah Ann Myers, with a dynamic swirl and star.  I have been waiting to use this for ages - it looked great on the front and the back!
