Kaffe Fassett Red Squares Quilt made by Shona

Here is another Kaffe Fassett quilt, made by Shona, which I have long arm quilted.  It is called 'Red Squares' and is from Kaffe Fassett's book 'Heritage Quilts'.

Whilst having her quilt quilted, Shona also took advantage of my quilt binding service.  All you need to do is provide the binding fabric ready prepared in a long enough strip  and I can add it onto the quilt whilst it is on the frame.  The quilt is then trimmed and ready for you to hand sew the binding on the reverse. If your quilt is large I would recommend this service as it saves a lot of the struggle of getting a huge quilt back under your domestic machine.

Also in this picture you can just about see the GORGEOUS Kaffe Fassett fabric which Shona chose for the back of the quilt.  The Kaffe Fassett fabrics tend to be lighter weight than others, so sometimes they are a good choice if you want to keep the weight of a large quilt to a minimum.  She also brought me a lightweight Quilters Dream cotton wadding, so for a large quilt it was not at all heavy.

These fabrics tend to speak for themselves so just an all over gentle meander using the 'Bam' digital pantograph was enough for this already beautiful quilt.

Kaffe Fassett Medallion Quilt by Sheila

Sheila is a big Kaffe Fassett fabric fan.  She thought she would use up her remaining scraps by making this medallion quilt, but at the end she discovered she still had plenty left!  Sheila chose the 'Popcorn' digital pantograph as an all over pattern.

Doreen's Purple Dresden Plate Quilt

One of the great joys about my job as a long arm quilter is that every day my lovely customers bring me lovely quilts.  Along with the quilt comes a story and it is often accompanied by the number of years that the quilt has been waiting in the cupboard to be quilted. Doreen's striking Dresden Plate quilt is a present for her daughter and as I understand her daughter has been waiting a VERY long time for it.
Doreen has made some lovely quilts over the years, but she reached a point when she decided that she no longer wanted to do the quilting and that was where I was able to help her out.
We choose an all over digital pantograph design called Birds Eye View which echoed the central design and I even had a variegated thread (Superior Threads Rainbow Crown Jewels #838) which matched perfectly with her fabrics. It looked really smart.

Project Linus South East Wales - Quilts

This a pile of quilts heading to the Project Linus South East Wales tomorrow.  Jan and Sue do a great job of distributing them to those in need of a quilt and the least I can do is put a few on the machine and get them quilted. It is also a chance to test out a few new patterns.
