For Day 24 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show I have pulled in two handsome models, showing off Pat's Fireworks quilt made in Liberty Quilting Cottons.  Many of you admired Pat's other version of this quilt which I posted back in March 2020, which was a quilt available on the Sewing Quarter.  Her daughter-in-law, Lynne, also admired it and asked her to make one for her bed (thanks for the photo Lynne!) .

I was requested to custom quilt this large quilt (86" x 86") and it ended up being my companion whilst I watched the 2020 US Election results (which went of for several days).  By the time it was ready we were back into lockdown and it became another quilt which I kept safe until Pat and Lynne were able to pick it up.

I checked the weather here for Christmas Day and it looks like we will not be having any snow.  Instead, for Day 23 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show we have Ann's Tula Pink Stacks Quilt, featuring a 'Snowballs' quilting design by Ann Bright.

Ann has used a lovely selection of colourful batik fabrics for her quilt and by using an off-white quilting thread, Glide Warm Grey 4, the quilting worked nicely across the dark and light areas of the quilt.

These lovely quilts just keep coming! On day 22 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show I am featuring Sheila's 1718 Coverlet Quilt. This is a reproduction of a quilt held in the Quilter's Guild Heritage Collection. Susan Briscoe has published a book with the pattern in it.

Sheila has done her own take on it by dipping into her blue fabric stash and mixing modern and traditional fabrics - another lockdown sensation!  With all the different motifs and contrasting colours, the coverlet is quite busy, so the quilting needed to work with that. Sheila chose a traditional style quilting pattern called 'Florence' designed by Anne Bright, which has leaves and flourishes reminiscent of historical decoration, which you can see here stitched out on a blue batik backing.

Today we have Natalie's Fossil Fern Quilt.  Natalie gave this quilt new life when she adopted some orphan blocks which had been cut ready for a quilt, but left in a bag unfinished.  Using the black fabric as a neutral really allows the colours to pop.

For the quilting design, Natalie went for 'Becker's Shooting Star', below you can see it stitched out in a multi-coloured thread on black fabric.  It certainly adds pizzazz!

Day 20 Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show - Lesley's Strawberry Thief Quilt (Today's Quilter)

For Day 20 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show I am featuring Lesley's Strawberry Thief Quilt.  This was a pattern featured in a supplement with Issue 32 of Today's Quilter.  The quilt is designed by Sally Ablett and the fabrics used in the quilt are William Morris designs (Free Spirit).  The muted tones of these fabrics and the light neutrals make this a really easy quilt to live with and it is easy to see why William Morris designs are so enduring.

With a traditional fee to this quilt, Lesley chose a traditional feather longarm quilting design, Alouette designed by Natalie Gorman and Patricia Ritter of Urban Elementz.  Lesley also decided to make the most of Fabadashery Longarm Quilting partial finishing service, which meant the binding was attached and the quilt trimmed down ready for her to do the finishing touches by sewing it to the back.

Less than a week until the BIG DAY! Meanwhile, here is Day 19 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show.  This is Sheila's Diamond Quilt. I have done quite a few of these quilts and this one was a wedding gift.  This is one of the weddings which was postponed due to the COVID restrictions.

The colours were chosen especially for the couple and the swallows were chosen by Sheila as she is a keen ornithologist.  This is what I love about digital quilting patterns, there is one to suit almost everyone. Cats, dogs, birds, football, Christmas, anything.  Sometimes it is the added touch which can really personalise a quilt.  Last November I highlighted some of the more quirky ones in Novelty November on this website.

Day 18 Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show - Helen's Heirloom Farmer's Wife Quilt, custom quilted at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

There is no doubt that the first lockdown allowed many quilter's to pull out their 'long term' projects and get them finally quilted.  On Day 18 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show we have Helen's  heirloom Farmer's Wife Quilt, which was one of those quilts.  It was started on a Di Ford workshop and whilst it is not strictly a Famer's Wife Quilt, the blocks are taken from the original quilt and Helen has used her wonderful stitching skills to add a centrepiece and her own border designs.

Below you can see photos of the quilt on my HandiQuilter frame near the end of its quilting and the fancy heirloom feather quilting which I did on the outside border.  It was a very large quilt, 95" x 95" and custom quilting was required.  By the time it was done, we were into the next lockdown and it had to wait a while until Helen could pick it up, so I got to know it well.

Day 17 Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show - Linda's Accuquilt Quilt

'Better Cuts make Better Quilts' is the slogan for Accuquilt.  Accuquilt make fabric cutters and I like to use mine to make my scraps into useful shapes for quilts.  For Day 17 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show, we have one of Linda's first quilts which she made using a selection of the block patterns which Accuquilt provide and fabric from Aldi.  All I can say is that this was the most accurately made and square quilt which I have ever quilted - I am not being paid to say that!

The patterns on the fabric were quilt busy so lots of quilting patterns would have been suitable for this quilt.  On this occasion, Linda went for Squirts designed by Anne Bright.

For Day 16, here is a quilt with full on impact - Jacqui's Exploding Heart Quilt. I think the heart pattern is made up of Quarter Square Triangle units.  I love the colours in this.  With all that white space, the quilting was going to show, and on this occasion Jacqui chose the Ginger Hearts quilting pattern in a pale purple, Amethyst Glide Thread, which has a 'barely there' look on the white background.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to Comment and Like my Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show. We are past the halfway stage and there are still plenty of gorgeous quilts to share.  Day 15 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show is a small quilt made by Valerie which I custom quilted earlier in the year.  The original design is a Janet Clare pattern.  Valerie appliqued and stuffed the  birds to add dimension, which is emphasised again with the custom quilting.

Day 14 Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show - Maisie's Weaver Fever Quilt

Day 14 on the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show. This is Maisie's Weaver Fever quilt, which she started on a workshop with Judi Mendelssohn in 2019.  I did the same class and you can see my version on my personal blog.  I love the colours of this - I quilted it in the Spring when all the daffodils were out and it reminded me of them.

I quilted it on my APQS longarm Machine using a pretty pattern called Be Mine (do you see the hidden hearts in the design), designed by Patricia Ritter and Leisha Farnsworth.

Day 13 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show and I have a lovely Bargello Quilt to share.  Suzanne made this quilt over lockdown, using only the fabrics from her stash.  She got the idea from a workshop she had attended with Jan Hassard in Bristol.  Here you can see the quilt once it had been finished and was lying on my APQS Longarm Machine.

The fabrics were mainly florals, so to follow through with that theme, Suzanne chose a floral style quilting pattern called 'Grace' designed by Anne Bright.

This is one of the many quilts which Marianne sent through to me by post during the lockdown in 2021.  I believe it is a Jelly Roll pattern, well, it certainly makes use of lots of strips and the graduating shades of fabric you usually get in a Jelly Roll!

Welcome to Day 11 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show.  Today I am celebrating Ann's Sampler Quilt which she completed on a course at Busy Bee's Patchwork.  I can recognise most of the blocks in the sampler: Bear paw, Applique, Log Cabin, Dresden Plate, Flying Geese, Hawaiian  Applique and Drunkard's Path - you are going to have to help with the Star blocks!  Talking of stars, Ann innovated with the star cornerstones, they really gave the quilt a different look.

Following on from Day 9 of the Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show, here are some more hexagons.  This time a lovely quilt made by Barbara, taken from Edyta Sitar's book, A Handful of Scraps.  Barbara always uses a beautiful soft colour palette and all her hand piecing deserved some custom quilting.

Day 9 Fabadashery Advent Quilt Show - Sara's Lockdown Rainbow Hexagon Quilt

Sara's Lockdown Rainbow Hexagon Quilt

This is Sara's first quilt. A hand stitched hexagon quilt.  For many people this is where they start.  With the rainbow theme you would be right in thinking that it was started in the 2020 lockdown.  Sara did an amazing job sourcing a wide range of colourful fabrics from old clothes to fabrics designed by her friend.  She also took time to embroider some of the hexagons to personalise it.

Sara used the partial finishing service, where I added the binding to the quilt and trimmed the quilt down ready for  her to do the final stitches on the binding.  To add a bit more fun, the quilt pattern she chose was 'Puzzletime', a design featuring puzzle pieces.
