Fabadashery Quilt Talks with Frances Meredith - Booking Now for 2025

My 2025 Diary has just arrived in the post.  The first job I have to do is to put in all the dates which have been booked for my quilting talks so far for 2025.  I currently offer two talks

'My Quilting Journey' - a journey through my creative journey of dressmaking, creative textiles, hand quilting and longarm quilting

'The Final Stretch' - that bit nobody really talks about – what do I need to do to get that quilt finished and get it finished to the best it can be, what you will need to consider whether you are hand quilting, quilting on your domestic machine or using a longarm to finish your quilt.

If your quilting group, U3A or WI are looking for speakers, get in touch at frances@fabadashery.co.uk

Claudine's French General Star Quilt

Claudine's French General Star Quilt

I always try to use my quilts around the home and over the years I have realised that it is the gentle coloured quilts which are easiest to live with.  This pretty quilt made by Claudine is one of those quilts.  It uses the soft pink blends of Moda French General fabrics, which are always a popular fabric range with other rosebud fabrics in pinks and reds.  For the longarm quilting, we chose a gentle feathery quilting pattern, 'Alouette' designed by Natalie Gorman.

Sian's Children's Pastel Quilt

Sian's Children's Pastel Quilt

I think this quilt was a joint effort between mother, daughter and granddaughter, and then my quilting. One choosing the colours, one piecing it, then the other finishing it off - it is amazing what you can get done in a group effort!  The quilt was inspired by the backing fabric, which was also used as the border.  The quilting pattern is Popcorn by Willow Leaf Studio - always a popular choice, for good reason, it seems to work on almost any quilt and is one of my personal favourites because of it s versatility.

Cathy's Olympics 2012 Gamemaker Quilt

Cathy's Olympics 2012 Gamemaker Quilt
As we enjoy the 2024 Paris Olympics, it reminded me that Cathy recently brought me her quilt top which she had made to commemorate the London 2012 Olympics.  Cathy was a Games Maker in 2012, so the blocks all feature sports.  On the back of the quilt, Cathy sourced a duvet cover which featured the London Underground map to remind her of the trips she made each day to be part of the special events.  On this occasion, I strongly suggested putting a label on the back, so that generations to come would know how she was involved.

We tried to find an Olympic Rings pattern for the quilting, but nothing was quite right, so we settled with 'Nightlight' quilting pattern with lots of rings and stars.  12 years on and the quilt is complete.
