Rosemary's Embroidered Wedding Quilt - Quilted at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

Rosemary's Embroidered Wedding Quilt

If you enjoy stitching and quilting, you may also have dipped into the world of embroidery machines. Rosemary has stitched this personal wedding quilt for a family member, using monograms on her embroidery machine and combining some unusual fabrics. I have quilted several embroidered quilts on my APQS longarm machine and a little careful thought about the right thread and the right pattern can make for an amazing quilt.

On this occasion, we used Cleopatra, a golden Glide thread combined with the 'Ginger Hearts' quilting pattern - an even, light pattern which was a perfect choice for a wedding quilt.

Lesley had to make a quick baby quilt and reaching into her fabric stash, she was able to pull out these lovely fabrics and make this delightful quilt. The wadding is Hobbs Polydown, a polyester wadding which will be soft and cuddly and cope with a spin in a washing machine.

Day 12 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Brighton Quilt, made by Natalie

'Brighton' Quilt, made by Natalie
The first Saturday in the New Year is known as 'Sunshine Saturday', when there is a surge in summer holiday bookings. Natalie's Brighton beach hut quilt is a lovely reminder of the warm days which are to come this year.  To add to the beach theme, Natalie chose a digital pattern called 'Sally by the Seashore' designed by Christy Dillon of My Creative Stitches.

You can see the pattern, featuring shells and starfish, quite clearly on the back of the quilt, making it a quilt which can be used either side.

Day 11 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Gill's Pink Capabara Quilt

Gill's Pink Capabara Quilt
Gill's Pink Capabara Quilt

Welcome to Day 11 of the Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas.  Today I am sharing a quilt which Gill made for a young family friend as a surprise.  Gill had asked for a 'mood board' of their favourite things, so that she could personalise the quilt.  It included a black kitten, pink things, capabaras and other things.  Gill was up for a challenge and managed to pull all these elements into one quilt (using the front and the back).  Gill sourced a design of a capabara and printed it onto fabric and blended it seamlessly into the whole quilt. Genius.

When it came to the quilting, obviously it had to tie into the 'brief'.  Gill had not managed to get the black kitten on the front, so she chose 'Paw Prints' a fun animal quilting pattern, to represent the paw prints of the pet. It was great to be part of this part of this quilting challenge!

Day 10 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Pat's Gingko Quilt

Pat's Gingko Quilt
Pat's Gingko Quilt
Welcome to Day 10 of the Fabadashery Longarm Quilting Twelve Days of Christmas.  Today I am sharing Pat's Gingko Quilt.  This was a very large quilt, using a Stuart Hillard pattern and a wide range of Kona Bay Ginkgo Tonal fabrics.  These particular fabrics have a metallic finish to them and I used a Glide Prickly Pear thread, which magically seems to have a similar finish to it - it looks beautiful on the black fabric.

Pat had pieced the back as well and it was here that you could really see the pattern of the 'Dragon Wings', a design by Apricot Moon.  With a large pieced front and pieced back, Pat opted for a 100% Wool wadding to make the quilt as light as possible.

Day 9 Fabadashery Twelve Days of Christmas - Celia's Tilda Irish Chain Quilt

Celia's Tilda Irish Chain Quilt
Celia's Tilda Irish Chain Quilt
Welcome to the 9th Day of Christmas at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting.  Today I am featuring Celia's Irish Chain quilt featuring a lovely collection of Tilda fabrics.  This was a particularly special quilt for Celia and she wanted an extra special finish.  I was able to quilt a simple orange peel design along the chain and for the white space of the Irish Chain I sought out a simple block pattern, which has been designed especially to fit in the that particular space.

This block was designed by Naomi Hynes as part of a set, and allowed me to offer a custom finish using my digital APQS system.
