Do you like to work small?  This is a Star A Day quilt made by Pippa in her favourite antique reproduction fabrics, which she brought in recently to my Fabadashery Long Arm quilting service.  It is difficult to show on the internet, but each of the Le Moyne star blocks are just 3" square and made up of 20 pieces.  It is a great quilt to use up your scraps!

With such detailed piecing this delightful quilt deserved some special attention, so it was custom quilted with a combination of ruler work which quilted the grid and stitched around the Le Moyne stars, with a digital block pattern stitched in the alternating blocks.

The pattern is called 'Star A Day' by Karen Styles of Somerset Patchwork and has been a popular project on the internet over the past few years.  Pippa completed ninety stars for this quilt to make a 39" x 43" quilt.  It used 80/20 wadding.

  1. Yes, I love to work small, but I haven't ever made that many small blocks to create a quilt that size. Such sweet little stars in a beautiful setting. Your quilting was the perfect tough!

  3. Thank you for bringing this little quilt to life with your lovely quilting. The stars were machine pieced using Deb Tucker's 'Rapid Fire' ruler.
