Curves Not Curves quilt made by Mairi, featuring Fluffy Clouds, quilted by Frances Meredith at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

'Curves not Curves' quilt made by Mairi
This is the 'Curves Not Curves' quilt which Mairi has made for her daughter.  It is one of those quilts which has the optical illusion of curves, but is actually made up from squares and triangles, hence the name.  I love her fresh choice of colours, mainly Kaffe Fassett blues and greens along with a vast selection of different modern neutrals.

Mairi is one of my postal customers and used my Pinterest Pattern catalogue to choose a digital pattern for her quilt.  On this occasion she chose 'Fluffy Clouds'.

Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt made by Christine, featuring Flowerumpus Quilt pattern.

Here is another hexagon, Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, made by Christine.  Christine is trying to use up her fabric scraps, but apparently this has only made a small dent into her stash ... I know the feeling. However, the result was so pretty and I am sure anyone would be happy to have this patchwork quilt in their home.
Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt, made by Christine, with Yellow Whisper Glide thread
Christine used a white on white fabric for her background.  I rarely use white thread when quilting a thread and on this occasion we chose 'Yellow Whisper' Glide thread on top and bottom, which went well with the border and on the backing fabric.

To add to the flower theme, the quilting pattern we chose was one of my new patterns, 'Flowerumpus', designed by Hermione Agee.  The picture above shows how the quilting came out on the back of the quilt. The only problem now is which side to use the quilt.

Purple and red Sampler Quilt made by Dorothy, quilted by Frances Meredith

Sampler quilts are a great way to work out which techniques you enjoy most in patchwork. This is the applique block which Dorothy included in her stunning Sampler Quilt, made on a course with Trease Lane at JB Sewing in Newport.  This sampler quilt included log cabin, curved seams, foundation piecing and traditional pieced blocks.

I love the way that Dorothy has alternated each sampler block with the same purple and red pieced block, it really brings unity to the quilt.  With lots of different things going on in one quilt, sometimes a simple allover meander is all it needs to stitch all the layers together, like this quilting pattern called 'Bam'. Dorothy also took advantage of my binding service - the red binding looks perfect!

Check out the new Search function at Fabadashery Longarm Quilting!

I have added a Search function on the sidebar on the right hand side of the blog.  If you have idea of the pattern you are considering for your quilt, why not put it in the search box and see what it looks like on other quilts I have done. For example, if you type in 'hearts', it will pull up all the posts with heart designs in it.

Today's Quilter 'Devon County' quilt, made by Margaret, quilted by Fabadashery Longarm Quilting

Here is another 'Devon County' quilt which I have quilted for Margaret.  I have quilted a few quilts for Margaret and she managed to include plenty of the leftover scraps from those in this pattern. I quilted one for Karen a few months ago, it is always fun to see how everyone interprets a pattern!  If you subscribe to Today's Quilter, this quilt was featured in Issue 29 as a special souvenir supplement in late 2017.  The quilt is called 'Devon County' and was designed by Sally Ablett. I wonder how many more I will get to see?

The quilting pattern we used was called 'Nemesh Feathers' a digital quilting designdsigned by Bethan Nemesh, with some lovely swirls and feathers.
