Sampler quilts are a great way to work out which techniques you enjoy most in patchwork. This is the applique block which Dorothy included in her stunning Sampler Quilt, made on a course with Trease Lane at JB Sewing in Newport.  This sampler quilt included log cabin, curved seams, foundation piecing and traditional pieced blocks.

I love the way that Dorothy has alternated each sampler block with the same purple and red pieced block, it really brings unity to the quilt.  With lots of different things going on in one quilt, sometimes a simple allover meander is all it needs to stitch all the layers together, like this quilting pattern called 'Bam'. Dorothy also took advantage of my binding service - the red binding looks perfect!
