'In The Hold' Quilt, made by Annie, inspired by David Bomberg painting at the Tate.

This week Annie brought along her finished quilt along to Bristol Quilters for Show and Tell.  This quilt is inspired by a painting called 'In The Hold' by David Bomberg, which is held by the Tate Gallery, London.  A complex painting makes for a complex quilt and there is an incredible amount of work in this quilt.

Drafting and piecing the top was one challenge, but then the decision of how to quilt it was another one.  Hearts and flowers were not the order of the day, but hidden away in my digital longarm quilting library was this 'Straight Line Stipple' pattern which echoed the angular shapes in the design.  The thread was Medium Grey, Fil-Tec Glide thread, which again needed to sit quietly in the background of this busy quilt.  I was really pleased to be able to help Annie finish her own masterpiece.
